CFC Gives to Charity
There is a large group of people in our area who deserve some recognition, although you won’t ever hear them ask for it.
They protect our country, bring our daily mail, process our retirement and tax refund checks, warn you about dangerous weather, keep us safe when we fly, and protect the forests, animals, and national parks we love to visit. They keep our workplaces safe and fair, the same for our roads, and they even help us with our housing needs so we have a place to call home at the end of the day.Who are these amazing people? They are our federal employees. You might say it’s simply part of their job to do all these things for you and me. And they’d probably agree with you.
But lets us share something that’s not part of their job – every year federal employees give generously to hundreds of local charities through their own employee fundraising drive, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). You may have not heard of it, but last year federal employees gave more than $271 million to a host of charitable causes through the CFC.
In our region, federal employees gave a record $2.5 million this past year, with an average gift of $270 per donor. Hill Air Force Base, Ogden IRS, and the Ogden Forest Service represent over 60% of the total amount – more than $1.5 million. This fall, they will do it all over again, and if the trend of the past decade holds true, they will give even more.
You may have not heard of the Combined Federal Campaign, but chances are you have a neighbor, friend, or family member who is a federal employee. They go above and beyond to serve us everyday, and to make sure our community has the necessary resources to meet every need.
