Support Local Disaster Relief
HOW IT WORKS
In the wake of a disaster, gaps in insurance and other unforeseen circumstances can cause great financial hardship for individuals and families experiencing trauma from disasters. United Way of Northern Utah will provide support for communities through the establishment of the Northern Utah Community Disaster Relief Fund. These funds seek to alleviate the unmet needs of families and individuals experiencing disaster or hardship.
United Way of Northern Utah will manage donations received for the purpose of relieving families in Northern Utah from distress and burdens caused by a disaster. United Way is committed to the stability of our communities and as such, 100% of all funds will be properly accounted for and distributed. In an event where donations become necessary, an Unmet Needs Committee will be responsible for designating donations and will ensure that all funds remain focused on families and individuals in Northern Utah whose needs, due to disaster, have not been met. United Way of Northern Utah will then disperse the funds to their designated purposes.
The Unmet Needs Committee is composed of local government officials, community disaster relief agencies, and nonprofit partners. This group is a local charter of the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, or VOAD. Region 1, or Northern Utah VOAD, members may include organizations such as: The American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, Team Rubicon, United Methodist Committee on Relief, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, United Way of Northern Utah, United Way of Cache Valley, 2-1-1, Salvation Army, Lantern House, the State of Utah Department of Emergency Management, and County and City Emergency Management personnel across Northern Utah.
