Kristin has completed her service year as an AmeriCorps VISTA at United Way of Northern Utah focusing on community outreach and early childhood development. Through her work, Kristin has impacted the lives of countless families in our community by ensuring that parents, children, and our volunteers, have the tools necessary to be successful in UWNU’s Welcome Baby program.
At UNWU, Kristen prepared monthly parenting curriculums to ensure that children from the age of 17 months to 36 months had the developmental skills necessary to start Kindergarten. She also worked with and managed over 30 volunteers in the Welcome Baby program who visit with over 200 families a month in our area and help children stay on their developmental track.
Since completing her year of service at UNWU Kristin has since been hired on full-time as the new Early Childhood Coordinator for Weber County.
“I am so happy that I was able to have the opportunity to work with the Welcome Baby program. I have learned so much and I’ve been able to put the hands-on experience to use as the new Early Childhood Coordinator for Weber County here at UWNU,” she says.
“The best part has been the honor of working with the many volunteers who support our program. People from all walks of life, come and share a part of themselves with others. It is so inspiring! The VISTA program is such an amazing opportunity to learn and grow no matter what stage of life you are in. It has been the best year. I have loved every day!”
United Way is now looking for the next AmeriCorps VISTA to fill her shoes and continue Kristin’s amazing work in our community.
