Goal: More than a fundraiser, United Way of Northern Utah (United Way) creates opportunities for people in our community to work together to improve the health, education, and financial stability of every person. We move quickly to meet changing needs in our community and need strong team members to assist with mission advancement. We are seeking a Development Director to focus on directing events in our service area. This role will give you the unique opportunity to secure philanthropic support to advance United Way’s mission through corporate and individual giving. You will be responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with corporations and individuals to support our mission philanthropically. You will be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with current donors & partners, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission is key.

An ideal candidate loves event planning (responsible for organizing and managing all aspects of events, from initial planning to execution and post-event evaluations), building authentic relationships with donors, and is willing to boldly ask for support to achieve United Way’s mission to ensure everyone has access to health, education, and financial stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Engagement :
Lead employee giving campaign events (planning, execution, reporting)
Co-Lead “Campaign Cabinet” committee, a subcommittee of the Resource Development Committee
Directly manage a portfolio of corporate accounts, including but not limited to employee giving campaigns, events, sponsorships, corporate gifts, and in-kind donations
Identify, cultivate, and engage corporate prospects and donors
Manage the “Year of Action” Calendar, which includes community drives, volunteer initiatives, and community awareness and advocacy events as a strategy to deepen corporate relationships in the community.
Coordinate event details for volunteer projects with UWNU’s corporate partners
Assist in resource development and fundraising efforts by supporting corporate sponsorship and grant proposal development, and making presentations.
Event Planning, Execution, & Management:
Create and implement systems, including registration and stewardship, for engaging corporate partners, donors, and community stakeholders in events
Oversee and coordinate all marketing and promotion for “Year of Action” events, working with the marketing team and outside contractors to implement impactful donor-centric strategies
Recruit and utilize volunteers to successfully host “Year of Action” events
Event planning, execution, and oversight for “Year of Action” drives and events
Report key metrics following all “Year of Action” drives and events
Process and report all incoming in-kind donations, including but not limited to those received during community drives
Secure sponsorships to fund “Year of Action” Events
Coordinate curated and custom volunteer projects and tour requests for United Way corporate partners.
Coordinate and support community events for UWNU programs to increase volunteers, donations, and awareness of UWNU work.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equiv. experience).
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, adjust as required by changing activities and events, and travel to work in a variety of locations throughout Northern Utah.
Must possess a valid drivers license, current auto insurance, and daily access to reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years in professional event management and planning experience
Demonstrated success in fundraising campaigns, sales, project management, and event planning.
Familiarity with corporate partners in the UWNU service area.
Compensation:
Wage: $55,000-$65,000 annually
Benefits: A comprehensive benefits plan includes vacation, sick leave, holidays, health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, as well as a 403(b) match of up to 10% of your salary after 1 year of employment.
Location: Ogden, UT; Travel throughout the service area (Box Elder, Cache, Morgan, Rich, and Weber counties) will be required.
Hours: Full-Time, Exempt (40 hours per week). Working hours in this position can vary greatly week to week depending on community events and other commitments in the role. Generally, UWNU hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm MST, but the nature of this position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate working some nights and weekends.
