If you haven't heard, it's our 90th birthday. This summer, we've celebrated by marching in as many parades as we can get our float into! With its big birthday cake in the center and LIVE UNITED sign across the side, our float is both a celebration and a reminder of all the work we do here at United Way.
Celebrating the big 9-0 is about thanking every organization, business, and individual who has helped us achieve our mission to Unite people and organizations to build a HEALTHY, STABLE, and WELL-EDUCATED community where individuals, families, and neighborhoods thrive. Celebrating 90 years reminds us, and hopefully our community who rallies around us, that change doesn't just happen. We create it together.
So far, we've been in 2 parades:
On June 22, we got all the kinks and mishaps out of our brand-new routine during the West Haven Parade. We learned how to work together and the best way to keep our cake inflated during those long, hot walks!
Just last week, you might have spotted us at the Ogden Pioneer Day Parade. Our 10+ parade volunteers sported United Way blue as they braved the heat to wave to our community and share our celebratory spirit.
One volunteer shared her experience: "Being in the Ogden Pioneer Day Parade was an exciting experience, with the lively crowd creating an infectious energy throughout the event. The sheer joy of participating and connecting with the crowd made every moment fun. It was a fantastic celebration of community spirit and tradition that left everyone with a smile on their face."
We are grateful everyday to be a part of Ogden's community and spirit, and the Pioneer Day Parade brought what we felt in our hearts to life.
Our Summer of Parades isn't done yet. Catch us on August 3 for the Roy Days Parade, or September 6 for the Peach Days Parade in Brigham City.
If you don't like the heat, don't stress. As we wrap up our 90th Birthday celebrations, we'll be walking in the Holiday Electric Parade in Ogden on November 30th. We hope to see you there!
