Read Across America Results

A member of law enforcement reading to a classroom full of young children

Ready, set...read! Every year we celebrate Read Across America, a national event to promote reading among children, by gathering volunteers to read to schools across Northern Utah. This year we had a variety of readers including Mayor Ben Nadolski, several city council members, military personnel, police officers, and so many more, but no matter your occupation, reading to children made an impact and here are the numbers to prove it:

  • We had 205 volunteers read in 10 different schools.

  • We received $29,027.60 value worth in books, which will be used for our various early childhood and literacy programs.

  • We had Read Across America opportunities in 3 different counties.

  • 184 classrooms were read to with a total of 4,600 children being read to!

Small steps make big differences. Reading to children for just five minutes doesn't seem like much, but the ripple affect seemingly little moments can have is limitless.

Change doesn't happen alone. Hope isn't a one-man band.

We have one life. To live better, we must LIVE UNITED.
