Summary of Work:  United Way of Northern Utah (UWNU) plays a unique role in the community. Having worked with partners in nonprofit, government, and the private sector for decades, we take a community-wide lens in measuring and understanding the impact of our effort and how we can do more. The department of Collective Impact at UWNU aims to improve educational outcomes for students, break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and increase partner collaboration to create system-level change for long-term impact. With this in mind, we have co-created a Community School & AmeriCorps Student Success Program partnership with local school districts and other organizations to ensure children and families have the comprehensive support they need to succeed in school. As such, the primary function of the Program Coordinator (AmeriCorps Student Success Program) is to grow the scope, scale, and depth of the partnership, working with critical stakeholders in the process. This includes AmeriCorps members, students, families, principals, school support staff, district personnel, community partners, private sector partners, and more. 

About the AmeriCorps Student Success Program: The AmeriCorps Student Success Program (SSP) provides caring mentors in schools to help students increase engagement and discover their strengths. To do this, AmeriCorps members work 1:1 with a caseload of students to help them increase attendance, improve academic abilities, ensure basic needs are met, and support social/emotional growth. They also provide AmeriCorps members with excellent training and support as they gain marketable skills and experience and prepare for a lifetime of meaningful contributions.
 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development and execution of on-boarding and off-boarding procedures of AmeriCorps members and member recruitment efforts.

  2. Share accountability for data collections and information gathering with AmeriCorps members.

  3. Coordinate regular meetings for AmeriCorps members and host sites.

  4. Responsible for training program members and support in training host site staff to ensure they understand program goals, procedures,  and compliance requirements.

  5. Ensure timely communication amongst United Way of Northern Utah team members, AmeriCorps members, and host school site team members, and other entities, as designated.

  6. Serve as the primary point of contact for AmeriCorps members assigned to the team member’s cohort.

  7. Serve as primary point of contact for AmeriCorps member’s school supervisor who are assigned to team member’s cohort

  8. Monitor AmeriCorps member’s data entry responsibilities/time tracking and offer assistance and guidance and accountability, as needed.

  9. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes academic achievement and personal growth

  10. Assist in preparing regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  11. Support evaluation efforts by collecting feedback and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

  12. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to strategic planning efforts.

  13. Manage program calendars, records, files, and materials.

  14. Support onboarding of new staff, interns, volunteers, or student workers, as needed.

  15. Assist with grant compliance, processing, and policy creation/updates

  16. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree or higher 

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage several multi-faceted projects simultaneously with careful attention to detail

  • Documented community service/ volunteer experience

  • High standards of professional ethics and conduct

  • Submit to and pass a full background check as required by AmeriCorps, process to be completed before onboarding with UWNU. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Successful completion of an AmeriCorps term/ understanding of AmeriCorps federal programs

  • Experience working in schools (with teachers, administrators, and staff)

  • Experience with leading and managing teams (including teams of volunteers/ service members)

Compensation: 

Wage: $19-$22 hourly

Benefits: A comprehensive benefits plan includes vacation, sick leave, holidays, health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, as well as a 403(b) match of up to 10% of your salary after 1 year of employment.

Location: Ogden, UT; Some state-wide travel may be required. 

Hours: Full-Time, Non-exempt (40 hours per week). UWNU hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm MST.  Work hours are subject to change based on UWNU and/or site visits, events and activities happening in the community.
