Steve Young’s Forever Young Institute and United Way of Northern Utah Announce New Partnership

Partnership Will Provide Leadership Training and Support to Northern Utah Nonprofits

Ogden – Northern Utah nonprofits have a heart for service, but frequently lack the staff, business tools and resources to match their passion. That’s why United Way of Northern Utah (UWNU) initiated a partnership with Steve Young’s Forever Young Foundation and their Forever Young Institute. The Institute provides training and facilitators from the Arbinger Institute, leaders in corporate consulting. Local nonprofit teams develop and implement a strategic plan, increase board engagement, and provide other tools to share with potential donors and sponsors.

The leadership training is offered by United Way of Northern Utah’s newly-launched Connection Center, created last spring. The Connection supports local nonprofits on three different levels: Universal, Targeted, and Intensive. At the Intensive level, which is a year-long support program, UWNU granted a place in its first cohort to seven executive directors. To kick off its year of support, the Connection began with a four-day leadership workshop from the Forever Young Institute.  Once the Arbinger Institute collaboration was formed, partnering with Forever Young Institute was the natural next step.

The first two days of the four-day workshop were held in early November, with the remaining two days scheduled for December. “We had an outstanding first two days of the institute on November 1-2,” says Mike Merchant of Arbinger Institute. “We are excited about our partnership with United Way of Northern Utah and the opportunity to support the work of their family of charities that is so uniquely equipped to deliver to those in need in our community.”

“This workshop provides resources and knowledge that nonprofits in Northern Utah couldn’t get anywhere else,” says Julie Johnson, UWNU Director of Community Relations. “We are fortunate to be located so close to world-class thought leaders that are willing to share their best practices. This is a phenomenal partnership that will help local nonprofits grow and improve as they seek to serve our community.”

Northern Utah nonprofits interested in joining the Nonprofit Connection Center should contact Julie Johnson at 801-399-5584 or uwnu.org/nonprofits.
