Some of the most meaningful moments in life happen when we least expect them—especially when you volunteer with children. Through the DYAD Reading Program, volunteers experience unforgettable connections as they help young students build reading confidence, one page at a time. It brings together compassionate adults and students who need a little extra support with literacy. Each week, volunteers visit schools in the Ogden School District to read aloud with students, helping them develop essential early childhood reading skills and a lifelong love of books.
But the magic of DYAD goes beyond reading.
One volunteer shared the heartwarming moment when his student turned to him on the walk back to class and said, “I love you.” Another was surprised and deeply touched to be invited to a student’s birthday party. A fifth-grade volunteer said the girls he tutored asked if he could return next year as their sixth-grade mentor.
Then there's the story of a student who usually hid under his desk, too shy to participate. With the patient support of his DYAD reading buddy, he came out, read flawlessly, and earned his very first classroom reward.
If you're looking for a meaningful way to volunteer with kids, give back to your community, and help shape brighter futures, the DYAD Reading Program is waiting for you.
